While CutBoard Studio works with ad agencies and clients from all over the United States, we’ve also helped our share of neighbors right here in Spokane. We love working with local businesses because we have an intimate understanding of the market including the intricacies that make Spokane unique. For example, despite being 20 minutes apart, many South Hill people are reluctant to visit the Northside or the Valley retailers and service providers. The same can be said for the Northsiders and Spokane Valley folks who tend to ‘cocoon’ themselves into their local neighborhoods. One thing we all agree on is our distain - both the lack of and price of - downtown parking.
We have a tendency to offer directions based on former locations and building names. “Go to the Peyton building and turn left at the old City Hall.” “Oh, they’re in the old Fred Meyer building that used to be a Value Giant.”
We know there are at least two R & R businesses in town: R & R RV and R & R Heating and Air. We know the glass shops in town are generally not teaching the fine art of glass blowing.
We also know Washington State graduates will display their college pride well into their 80’s. Go Cougs!
Here’s a list of some of the local spokane businesses we’ve helped over the years:
At 89%, we’re undeniably white and that’s slowly changing. About 18% are college graduates and about 75% of the adults are married with children. There seems to be an unwritten, yet almost universally followed law, that if you were born in Spokane, you are required to move away for a while and then return to Spokane when it’s time to settle down. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had this scenario described to me.
No matter what tagline city officials try to hang on us; Near nature, near perfect. Or, Creative by Nature. We will always be the Lilac City that hosted the 1974 World’s Fair.
